The Motability Scheme enables disabled people to exchange either their Higher Rate Mobility Component of Disability Living Allowance or their War Pensioners' Mobility Supplement to obtain a new car, powered wheelchair or scooter.
A car that is subject to the Motability scheme and therefore under a lease agreement should not be counted as an asset when considering a Debt Relief Order.
Any benefit received to pay for the Motability vehicle will need to be shown as an income, similarly any payment paid for the vehicle, must be listed as an expense.
If you are unsure as to whether an Debt Relief Order is the best way to solve your debt problems please call us on 0800 074 6918.
