An IVA can take 6 to 8 weeks to set up
We receive a lot of calls and emails from the public asking; "How much debt do I need to do an IVA?".
In order for an IVA to be feasible, there are some minimum requirements that must be met. If the minimum requirements are not met then you will not qualify for an IVA.
These requirements are:
- At least £15,000 of unsecured debt
- At least £200 a month available for payment into the IVA
- You must have three or more debts to different institutions.
- You should have a regular income

To apply for IVA, you would need to provide a full financial statement and declare all your assets and bank accounts. An insolvency practitioner will then assess the case and advise of weather you are eligible for an IVA or not.
- Please note that if you owe less than £15,000 an IVA will not be feasible.
- There is no upper limit to the amount of debt you can pay off with an IVA, which can make it a far better option than bankruptcy.
- The IVA creditors will expect to receive 25% of their money back via an IVA.
