We receive a lot of calls and emails from the public asking; "Is the IVA registered on your credit file?"
Yes, the IVA will definitely be registered on your credit file
At the end of the IVA you will be issued with a letter of completion and a certificate of compliance stating that the Voluntary Arrangement has been successfully finalised. This can then be shown to any third parties who may enquire concerning your credit file.
You should not get credit while the IVA is live because you are working to a strict budget. You are free to apply for credit after your IVA is completed. To ensure your credit file is updated send a copy of your completion letter (from your supervisor) to both credit reference agencies. All of your debts covered by the IVA should be marked as satisfied by each original creditor when your IVA is completed on your credit file.
When you apply for credit, you will probably give the lender the company you want credit from permission to carry out a credit check.
The credit reference agency does not decide who should get credit, but the information provided which you can see by asking for a credit report) may help the lender to decide.
This information includes details of the electoral roll, court judgments, bankruptcies and IVAs and your current and past credit commitments.
