A new National Debt Helpline - a new lifeline to us all

The UK Insolvency Helpline has officially pledged its support to all advice centres that face closure.
In the UK many advice agencys face closure due to lack of funding. Quite often advice centres which help thousands of people a year have to close their doors because of a lack of funding.
Managers at the closing advice centres are claiming that the local Councils have refused to aid the services. Money Advice Direct fear that, without the service, many people will find it harder to escape debt.
Money Advice Direct offers confidential, non-judgemental debt advice.
Richard Sorsky from the debtline said: "We have offered this lifeline because we fear some people are going to turn to perhaps taking out further borrowing or turn to other, more sales based debt advice companies. We don't believe that, in the long term, that will help them. It may well be that people actually have nowhere to turn."
